DAY 2 – MADRID: Arrival and transfer to your hotel. Free day to get
acquainted with this vibrant city or
perhaps to visit some museums such as the Prado or the Thyssen Bornemisza
Collection. In the evening,
enjoy an escorted panoramic tour of Illuminated Madrid, ending at the
atmospheric Plaza Mayor, where
you may choose to enjoy some of the delicious Tapas, served in the numerous
“tavernas” in the area.

DAY 3 – MADRID: Buffet breakfast. Morning panoramic city tour, including the
Cibeles and Neptune fountains,
the magnificent Alcala Gate, the Puerta del Sol and Plaza Oriente, as well as
modern Madrid. Perhaps
enjoy a typical Madrid lunch Free afternoon. Highly recommended is an optional
excursion to ancient
Imperial Toledo, where you can admire the magnificent cathedral and the art of
El Greco Or, you may choose
to visit (on your own) the famed Royal Palace or the excellent Reina Sofia
Contemporary Museum.

DAY 4 – MADRID / SEGOVIA / AVILA / SALAMANCA: Buffet breakfast and departure
to medieval
Segovia, with its 2000 year old Roman aqueduct. Continue to Avila, to admire its
perfectly preserved 11th
century walls before arriving in Salamanca, home to one of Europe’s oldest
universities. Afternoon tour of the
city’s historical center. In the evening, don’t fail to take a stroll through
the lively and beautiful Plaza Mayor.

DAY 5 – SALAMANCA / ZAMORA / SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA: Buffet breakfast. Head
northwest,
passing ancient Zamora to enter “Green Spain”, continuing to Galicia and the
pilgrimage city of Santiago de
Compostela. Afternoon tour of this charming city, with the cathedral containing
the tomb of St. James the
Apostle. This evening, enjoy a local dinner with the typical “Queimada” flaming
drink made from local spirits.

DAY 6 – SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA / GUIMARAES / BRAGA / PORTO: Buffet breakfast.
Head south,
through the beautiful country of the “Rias Bajas”, passing Vigo en route to
Portugal. Pause at the historical
villages of Braga and Guimaraes before arriving in beautiful Porto, at the mouth
of the Douro River.

DAY 7 – PORTO: Buffet breakfast. Morning tour of one of the richest and
loveliest cities in Portugal, famed
world wide for its magnificent port wines. A visit to one of the typical
wineries is included. Afternoon free.

DAY 8 – PORTO-COIMBRA-FATIMA-OBIDOS-LISBON: Buffet breakfast. Departure to the
charming university
town of Coimbra. Free time to explore its narrow streets before continuing to
Fatima, a world
famous shrine. Free time to visit the basilica if you wish, and lunch on your
own. Proceed to the quaint
walled village of Obidos, for an opportunity to wander its attractive streets
before continuing to Lisbon.

DAY 9 – LISBON: Buffet breakfast. Morning tour of this city of seven hills (like
Rome) on the banks of the
Tagus River. Visit its monuments like the Tower of Belen and the Jeronimos
Monastery. Afternoon free.
We highly recommended the optional excursion to the charming villages of Cascais
(seaside) and Sintra (hill
town). Tonight there is a wonderful optional opportunity to enjoy a wonderful
show of Fado (Portuguese
traditional) music with a delicious dinner.

JERONIMOS MONASTERY, LISBON TOWER OF BELEN, LISBON
DAY 10 – LISBON-MERIDA-MADRID: Buffet breakfast. Departure, through the region
of the famous cork
trees, back into Spain and the ancient Roman city of Merida. Free time for
lunch. Afternoon visit to the
spectacular Roman amphitheatre (still in use) before continuing to Madrid for an
early evening arrival.

DAY 11 – MADRID: Buffet breakfast. Pre-arranged transfer to Madrid airport for your flight home.
